CALL MONITORING

When telephoning Connector through the call centre or customer service reception, your phone calls may be monitored or recorded by us for staff training and service quality control purposes.

USE OF THE MOTORWAY

When you travel on the Lane Cove Tunnel or Military Road E-Ramp, we may record one or more of the following:

  • the location and the time of day
  • the direction in which your vehicle was travelling
  • whether your vehicle is a car or truck
  • your vehicle registration number
  • your electronic tag number.

We may take a photograph of your vehicle and its number plate, and record this automatically, when you pass through a tolling point. Connector may give this image, and any of the information referred to above, to:

  • the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority
  • the Police and other law enforcement or regulatory agencies
  • other tollroad operators and tag and pass issuers

and it may be used to issue you a toll notice or penalty notice (if you have not made an arrangement to pay the toll) or to assist us or other parties to collect tolls.

For the safety of motorway users, there are closed circuit television cameras in the Lane Cove Tunnel and on the Military Road E-Ramp. These video cameras may record images of you and your vehicle. This information is used to assist us to monitor and respond to traffic conditions and incidents.

Cookies: A cookie is a data file that certain web sites write to your computer’s hard drive when you visit such sites. Connector uses cookies solely to track user viewing patterns throughout the Connector web site and to allow you access to certain sections of the site. This data is anonymous and we do not correlate this information with the personal data of any user.

Our Use of Personal Information

When you are on an area of the Connector web site and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with Connector as well as its business partners and vendors that provide hosting and other services for the Connector web site. If you do not want your information to be shared, you can choose not to allow the transfer of your information by not using that particular service.

By ‘personal information’ we mean data that is particular to you, such as your name, address, email address, or telephone number. From time to time, we may request personal information from you in order to deliver requested materials to you, respond to your questions, or deliver a product or service.

Our primary goal in collecting personal information is either to provide to you a product or service requested by you or to enhance your experience on our web site.

The products or services we provide on this web site are primarily tolling products and services. We attempt to enhance your experience on our web site by, among other things, providing interactive communications to the email address that you provide to us, and developing future editorial content based on your interests. To develop content targeted to your interests, we use aggregated user information to determine which areas of our web site users prefer, based upon the number of visits to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, just how well each page or content area performs overall.

When you use this web site, and in particular when you ask us to provide to you products or services, you agree that we may disclose your personal information to the following types of organisations for the purposes set out below:

  • Service providers: These are organisations to which we have contracted some of our functions (such as mailing houses and IT contractors). Information is provided to those organisations to assist them to discharge those functions.
  • Nominated financial institutions: We may exchange relevant information with any bank or other financial institution with which you have a credit card or bank account that you have used to pay a toll notice. The purpose of this is to assist in the collection of payment.
  • Collection agents: Where we have difficulties debiting your credit card or bank account, we may notify your bank and exchange information about you. We may also provide information to credit reporting agencies and/or our collection agent as required.
  • Roads and Traffic Authority: Connector may need to exchange your personal information with the Roads and Traffic Authority for transactions relating to your use of our tollroads, monitoring and administering use of tags or passes, and processing toll notices.
  • Law enforcement agencies: We will provide your personal information to the Police and other law enforcement or regulatory agencies if required or authorised by law or any legally enforceable notice or order.
  • Tollroad operators and tag and pass issuers: In order to collect tolls, we may exchange information with other motorway and tollroad operators, and issuers of tags and passes.
  • Research institutions: Connector may sometimes provide de-identified or anonymous data to other organisations or traffic authorities for traffic research purposes. In these cases Connector will ensure that there is no way of correlating the data with your personal information.

All personal information collected by Connector will be managed and stored safely and securely so that it is protected against unauthorised access, use, disclosure or modification and against loss.

Connector respects your right to access personal information we hold about you. We will generally permit you access to that information, other than where it may be withheld for a legitimate reason. To arrange access to personal information we hold about you, please contact our customer service manager on 133 111. If we are unable to meet your request, we will tell you why.
