MILITARY ROAD E-RAMPS: new name – same great time savings

 

 ‘Military Road E-Ramps’ will launch its new name with toll free Saturday on 19 September 2009.

 

Formerly the Falcon Street Gateway, the tolled Military Road E-Ramps link Lower North Shore to the north and north-west, in the process by-passing 19 sets of traffic lights and the Pacific Highway - saving motorists time and money. 

 

The name change follows motorist and community consultations launched by Connector Motorways, owner and operator of the Lane Cove Tunnel and Military Road E-Ramps earlier this year.

 

“After reviewing motorists’ feedback, driving behaviour and signage in the area as well as taking a close look at the origin and destinations of the ramps’ traffic it was clear that motorists and the community better identified Military Road as the landmark and major arterial link in the Lower North Shore,” said the CEO of Connector Motorways Mr Ian Hunt. 

 

“Customer pulse checks highlighted that motorists were more conscious that the links and destinations attached to Military Road. We also found that motorists who used the ramps were enjoying substantial time savings both in peak and non-peak periods.

“By-passing 19 sets of traffic every day is a big chunk of time and more and more motorists are using the Military Road E-Ramps every month.

 

“To celebrate its new name, the Military Road E-Ramps will be toll free on Saturday, 19 September to let weekend motorists experience the time savings on the weekend that are just as significant as those during the weekday peak hours,” Mr Hunt said.

 

Connector Motorways has launched a driver education campaign to alert motorists to the name change.

 

The term ‘E-Ramp’ was selected to overcome a small incidence of motorist confusion regarding the charging of a toll. ‘E’ is a common device used on Sydney toll roads to communicate electronic tolling.

 

Tolls for the Military Road E-Ramps are $1.36.
