Tolling Information

TOLL CHARGES

How do I pay?

Neither the Lane Cove Tunnel nor the Military Road E-Ramps uses cash. Both roads are fully electronic and require either a tag or a pass to pay the toll.

If you use either road without a tag or pass, you will receive a toll notice, which will incur an administration fee in addition to the toll.

If you do not have a tag or pass, we recommend an e-TAG or an e-PASS from Roam Express. To apply for one click here or see alternatives  for payment below.

How much do I pay?

The charge depends on the size of your vehicle.

NO TAG/PASS?

Applying for a Tag

Roam Express is Connector’s preferred provider of e-TAGs.

Connector Motorways does not sell or issue tags.

To apply for an e-TAG, you will need to complete an application form online or download a form and send it to Roam Express. You can also call Roam Express directly on 13 76 26.

Before completing an application for a toll account you should read:

  • the Terms and Conditions of the toll account
  • the Direct Debit Service Agreement, if you are using direct debit from your bank account
  • the Privacy Policy
  • the Schedule of Fees

Please note that your e-TAG remains the property of Roam Express and you must pay a deposit for each tag. If the tag is lost or damaged, you may be charged a fee for its replacement.

To apply for an e-TAG, you will need to transfer to the Roam Express web site.

Applying for a Pass

Roam Express is Connector’s preferred provider of e-PASSes.

Connector Motorways does not sell or issue passes.

You will need to set up a toll account and register your vehicle's number plate. You can do this by:

Alternatively, you can download a form from the Roam Express web site. The form can be faxed or mailed back to Roam Express.

To apply for an e-PASS, transfer to the Roam Express web site.

48 hours to pay

If you travel on the Lane Cove Tunnel or Military Road E-Ramp without making an arrangement to pay, you can contact Roam Express within 48 hours of your trip to purchase an e-PASS and we will debit your account.

If you travelled more than 48 hours ago, contact Connector’s call centre on 133 111, or wait for a toll notice.

ENFORCEMENT NOTICES

Paying for travel after you have received a toll notice

If you travel on the Lane Cove Tunnel or Military Road E-Ramp without making an arrangement to pay within 48 hours (as explained above), Connector uses a three-step process to recover the toll.

  1. Toll notice
    • Blue coloured letter
    • Administered by the RTA on behalf of Connector
    • Delivered within two weeks of using toll road
  2. Final toll notice
    • Issued if you fail to respond to a toll notice
    •
    • Red coloured letter
    • Administered by the RTA on behalf of Connector
    • Delivered approximately three weeks after first toll notice
  3. Penalty notice
    • Issued if you fail to respond to a final toll notice
    • White coloured letter
    • Administered by the State Debt Recovery Office
    • Delivered one to two months after final toll notice.

In addition to the toll, an administration fee is charged at each step. The fee differs depending on two things:

  • Why payment failed
  • Method of payment.

This is represented in the chart below.

You have four options when you receive a toll notice:

  1. Settle the account by credit card. Connector’s preferred method of credit card payment is online via the Connector web site, but you can also pay via mail, fax or the call centre.
  2. Charge to existing tag account. Connector’s preferred method of tag payment is online via the Connector web site, but you can also pay via mail, fax or the call centre. You do this by providing the tag account details requested on the toll notice. It is highly recommended that you provide Connector with your contact details during this process, to prevent delay if your payment is rejected by your tag account provider (i.e. if your account is invalid or has insufficient funds).
  3. Nominate the driver. At any stage from receiving the first toll notice until the penalty notice is received, you (as the vehicle owner) may nominate the person who was driving your vehicle at the time by filling out a statutory declaration form. Connector’s preferred method for receiving these nominations is via an electronic form on Connector web site, but you can also nominate the person who was driving via mail or fax. For a statutory declaration form click [here].
  4. Object. At any stage from receiving the first toll notice until the penalty notice is received, you may lodge an objection to the toll notice. Connector’s preferred method for receiving objections is online via the ‘Contact Us’ page on the Connector web site, but you can also lodge an objection via mail or fax. NB: Only lodge an objection if you are certain a mistake has been made, and your car was not on the identified toll road. Penalties exist for false objections.

    A toll notice objection must:

    • be in writing addressed to Connector Motorways
    • include the relevant details from your toll notice, such as the reference number and the date, time, toll collection point, lane and direction of travel
    • explain the reason for your objection
    • be signed
    • be made within 7 days of receipt of the toll notice
    • be made by the person making the objection.

Key things to note about the toll recovery process:

  • You should register your number plate with your tag issuer. Then, if your tag is not read because of a reading error or because your tag is not installed correctly, we can identify and charge the account linked to your number plate, thus avoiding the entire toll notice process.
  • Online communication and payment is Connector’s preference for all matters relating to toll notices.
  • If you receive a penalty notice, contact the Connector call centre—you may have other unpaid transactions that could be settled without you receiving further penalty notices. Our customer service officers will help resolve any problems, and help prevent re-occurrence, saving you time and money.
